The candidate for System Administrator will be a self-motivated, hands on, and technical-oriented IT professional with keen understanding of customer service, E&P Upstream Systems and IT operational processes. This position directly reports to the Manager of IT Operations. This position supports and serves the needs of the company whose scope of Infrastructure services includes: servers, storage, data center operations, help desk, desktop support and IT security.

Experience, Skills and Education:
5+ years of operating in a similar IT environment
• Proven “hands-on” experience in building and operating a high quality IT infrastructure with heavy emphasis on Windows server, virtualization, network storage, and backup technologies
• Proven experience in operating within a strong change management and internal controls/SOX environment
• Experience in engineering and deploying virtual/enterprise servers, cloud based services, thin client technologies, network and workstation/desktop infrastructures with a strong focus on consistent maintenance and operating procedures, capacity planning and security best practices
• Extensive experience in root cause analysis and high level technical troubleshooting
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with data center operations and implementation including storage, server and virtualization strategies and technologies
• Ability to implement group policy, automation scripts or system maintenance/monitoring automation to improve uptime and reduce support
• In-depth knowledge of the Windows 2008R2, Windows 7, VMware ESX 5.x and NetApp FAS 2040 or comparable SAN storage technologies
• Current certifications in VMware, NetApp, HP & Dell server technologies preferred, MSCE and or current MCITP certification required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems/MIS or Science or equivalent experience
• Scheduled night and weekend work and/or on-call duty will be required
• Willing to travel (less than 20% travel)
Specific Duties include:
Ensures high availability (24×7×365) and high levels of performance for mission critical server systems and business applications
• Manages the data center, servers and storage systems including hardware, software and vendors
• Installs, configures, modifies and maintains server and storage hardware, software and patches; provides server support related to business applications and other software
• Develops and manages processes and procedures for backup, archive and restoration of company files and applications in accordance with company’s data retention standards
• Develops procedures to maintain security and protect systems from unauthorized use, acts of nature and user abuse in accordance with Company’s IT internal and SOX controls
• Coordinates and participates in various IT activities, including support on projects, audits, service level agreements, legal hold data collections, system configuration documentation and process development
• Performs troubleshooting as required. As such, leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations
• Supports and mentors junior system administrators, help desk and desktop support teams
• Stays current with technological developments in system administration and recommends ways for the company to take advantage of new technologies
