Under general direction performs as a top-level technical expert in one or more areas of the Carle computing infrastructure. Works as a member of a team to provide technical guidance concerning server and storage based technology solutions. Can work independently on selected tasks and projects as assigned. System Administrators evaluate, plan, design, implement and support Carle's production server and storage environment. They ensure platform stability, availability and reliability of the Systems implemented into the production environment. Specific deliverables include daily ticket/work request handling and event management in terms of overall availability/performance. The System Administrator will also perform design changes related to application integration, platform system administration, problem management, preventive maintenance and performance tuning, all within best practice standards. This position participates in on-call rotation for third level support of server and storage system hardware and software.
Preferred candidates should have a BachelorÆs Degree or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 5 years related experience with Windows Server 2003/2008 client-server computing. Desired experience includes: Active Directory, Group Policy, Exchange, VMWare Virtualization, Citrix published application delivery, Dell Server Hardware, Cisco UCS Hardware,
Fabric Zone switching, Tivoli Storage Manager, Backup Exec, and EMC SAN/NAS technologies. A comprehensive understanding of current versions of Microsoft Windows Server and Infrastructure management methods is a must. Storage Network zoning and provisioning for EMC Clariion, Celerra, Centera, and Brocade switching, as well as comfort with most common network concepts such as TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, DHCP, DNS, and WINS is a plus. This individual will work as a team to implement, manage, maintain, and document a diverse infrastructure environment.
Ability to effectively communicate to technical and non-technical staff at all levels of the organization. Ability to work on projects both independently and in a team environment. Ability to troubleshoot issues within all aspects of Information Technology. Ability to deal with a rapid and fast paced changing environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong analytical and organizational skills. Experience with other technologies common to Healthcare System environment strongly preferred. Experience in technical writing, technical research and technical project management. Leadership skills: Sound problem resolution, judgment, negotiating and decision making skills. Ability to manage and deliver multiple project phases at the same time, and being able to manage ongoing operational issues with longer term strategic work.
