The email system administrator will be responsible for technical administration of the UCSF Exchange 2010 system and all related components including the following: Support an Exchange 2010 organization, meeting appropriate service levels; Support a Microsoft Exchange 2010 environment including all mail server roles (Client Access, Hub Transport, Mailbox and Public Folder).
S/he will be responsible for administering and supporting Microsoft Windows Active Directory and Windows OS (2003, 2008, 2008 R2), DNS and Microsoft Exchange; experience with Windows clustering; responsible for supporting common email applications (Outlook, Entourage, ActiveSync, BlackBerry-based email); manage the appropriate setup of applications hosted via Microsoft Exchange or reliant upon Microsoft Exchange.
This includes, but is not limited to BlackBerry services; Barracuda spam firewalls; Dell hardware and storage, SAS, DAS, NAS, SAN and RAID technologies; maintain appropriate documentation on the Microsoft Exchange environment; provide a point of escalation and support to the Desktop Support Group and Service Desk; provide 24/7 on-call support for the email environment; participate in after business hours maintenance activities, as required. S/he will perform general system administration duties in a Windows Active Directory environment; monitor Windows 2003/2008 servers and troubleshoot problems; support, maintain and administer third-party applications.
The System Administrator will produce appropriate documentation for application deployment, configuration, and related processes; enforce change management and compliance processes; work as a technical resource on assigned projects; configure and maintain server operating systems and repair server hardware.
S/he will help manage network system backups and provide a comprehensive disaster recovery plan for email services that take advantage of our global presence; participate in disaster recovery planning, testing and response; perform routine preventative maintenance on all hardware on a routine and scheduled basis; perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems; support Active Directory/Exchange lab environment; use PowerShell for basic administration/scripting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• Windows Server Administration
• Exchange Server 2007 & 2010 administration skills
