Responsible for over-all management of the Infection Control department and for the Surveillance Prevention and Control of Infection Programs to prevent or minimize Health Care Acquired Infections and to ensure the well being and safety of employees, patients, physicians, and visitors for the assigned facility . Serves as the leader for The Valley Health System in the monitoring of outcomes, developing of ICP staff and communicating on behalf of the infection prevention function as a whole.
Advanced degree in Nursing, Microbiology, Epidemiology, or equivalent scientific discipline
Minimum five years managed/directed Infection Control Program in larger ( >
;300 bed) facilities, experience in teaching hospitals, specialty care hospitals, Level III NICU, cardiac surgery. Familiar with TJC, CMS, HFAP, Nevada, and OSHA regulations as they apply to acute care hospitals. Teaching certification or formal educational experience helpful.
Computer proficiency to include word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
Certified in Infection Control (CIC) for a minimum of 5 years prior to application. Membership in either APIC or SHEA
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit/department.
