Job Title: Systems Administrator
Reports to: Managing Director, IT & Managed Services
Type of Position: Full-Time; Non-exempt'
Job Location: Denver, Colorado
Position Summary: The System Administrator is a Tier 2 position that is responsible for the architecture, implementation, and ongoing operation of infrastructure systems in a mid- to large-size IT environment. The Systems Administrator provides advanced support and deep knowledge of systems including trouble resolution, installation, documentation, and long term planning for IT systems and infrastructure.
Essential Functions
Quickly analyze, diagnose and resolve complex systems and network problems. Recommend and implement corrective solutions for hardware and software.
Ongoing capacity planning and analysis to ensure proper functionality of applications and systems while accounting for long-term growth and usage.
Implement automated monitoring of all critical systems and provide proactive support for issues.
Implement system scripting and automated workflows to reduce manual efforts of common tasks
Recommend, plan and implement upgrades/enhancements as needed.
Work successfully with outside vendors providing network, software, and hardware components support.
Assist and participate as a Team Lead and/or escalation point to technicians on the Service Desk, performing any and all duties required.
Ensure the continuous, uninterrupted availability and functionality of computer systems.
Respond to emergency system outages and perform after-hours implementations as required to maintain optimum service levels with minimum interruptions to users, clients and network.
Meet SLA (Service Level Agreement) on-site support requirements. May be scheduled on-call and will be required to carry a cell phone. While on-call, must be available to respond to any Severity 1 or 2 trouble reports within outlined SLA intervals. Must also be able to quickly connect remotely or dispatch to remote sites if required.
Extensive background in planning, installing, administering and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Server operating systems.
Extensive background with Microsoft Exchange relating to deployment, configuration, and best practices of the mail system.
Extensive background in configuring, assembling, integrating and troubleshooting mid-range server products and associated peripherals such as Automated Tape libraries, Storage Arrays, and power systems.
Experience creating, managing, and maintaining virtual servers and physical virtualization hosts (Hyper-V and VMWare)
Working knowledge of TCP/IP and related protocols such as DHCP, WINS, DNS, SMTP, POP3, and SNMP; working knowledge of network equipment including Ethernet switches, routers and firewalls, and related devices.
Contribute to the planning of emergency management/disaster recovery plans. Maintain knowledge of emergency management/disaster recovery plans and assure readiness is maintained at all times.
Contribute to developing and maintaining documentation, updating asset inventories and configurations, and the ongoing formulation of policies and procedures.

None.

Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise
Education/Experience: 5 years of information technology experience in a business/enterprise environment, Two years of network-related changes and troubleshooting. Tier 0 through Tier II support abilities.
Language Skills: Extremely strong written and oral communication skills including editing skills.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of Windows Server 2003 through Windows 2012 in an Active Directory environment, Windows XP, 7, and 8, VMWare ESX/ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, Ethernet networks, wireless networks, local and networked printers, setup, configuration and troubleshooting of firewalls, routers and switches, laptops and desktop hardware components and MS Office 2003 through 2013. Previous experience with server and workstation backups, VPN troubleshooting, computer imaging, remote access, virus removal and prevention, and WAN troubleshooting. Preferred skills in MS Exchange, server setup and configuration, Active Directory management and configuration, Client-server protocols (DNS, DHCP, TPC/IP, LAN, WAN)
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation. Server+, MCP, or equivalent certification(s) highly desirable. ITIL v3 Foundations, ISO 9001, CCNA, MCSE or other related certifications preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities: Detail oriented with strong organization skills, ability to make critical decisions in a short amount of time. Maintain a professional attitude and demeanor when in stressful situations. Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast paced environment.

Physical Demands
Seeing Must be able to see well enough to read reports and use a computer. Include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Hearing Must be able to hear well enough to communicate on the phone and in person.
Standing/Walking/Mobility Occasionally required to stand; walk; sit.
Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling Must be able to stoop and kneel for short periods of time. Stoop, kneel, balance, crouch or crawl.
Lifting Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Reach with hands and arms.
Fingering/Grasping/Feeling Must be able to write, type, and use the phone system. Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
