Under direct supervision, performs hardware server setup, installation and configuration of the operating system, new releases and upgrades. Provides and administers the means with which Public Health department users access resources through control of identities, computers, and information. Performs administration, technical support, and maintenance of multi-location networked computer systems including Linux and Windows network operating systems. Participates in system designing and planning, and makes equipment purchase recommendations.
Perform hardware server setup, installation and configuration of the operating system, new releases, and upgrades. Maintain 24/7/365 operation of a variety of network computer and communication devices including: servers, backup devices, hubs, personal computers and printers, network attached storage and devices, and telecommunications. Monitor network performance; troubleshoot network issues and develop and apply remedies; update service packs; upgrade versions; and advise operators of operational techniques.
Provide technical support to customers and maintain network operations. Design, test and implement network improvements.
BA/BS (MS preferred) in computer science, electrical engineering, IT or equivalent technical training specific to system administration (prefer Microsoft and *NIX) and minimum three years experience in the Installation and maintenance of systems for a significantly sized local enterprise; or any equivalent comination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis.

Certifications Desired: MCSA, MCSE, MCITP or MCTS (Exchange 2007 Highly Desired, Windows 2008) VMware VCP 3,4 preferred.
Must have valid driver's license, if you are from out of state, you must obtain a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of hire date and you must not have any major violations, nor more than one DUI, DWI, DWAI conviction in the past three years.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a variety of technical and non-technical personnel and the ability to work efficiently with cross-departmental personnel.
