System Analyst Skill Requirements:
Good oral and basic written communication ability and the ability to communicate effectively with the public and with co-workers.
Baccalaureate degree in unrelated field with 1 - 2 years experience or 2 - 4 years post-secondary with 2 - 5 years experience.
Knowledge of standardize, but moderately complex procedures and operations requiring training and experience. Ability to organize moderately complex tasks and analyze moderately complex issues.
Innovation: Difficult - Problems and issues may be only vaguely defined and require consideration of other job areas. Modify - Adapt or enhance quality in existing methods to reach same result.
Responsibility: Direct, but minimally supervised, impact on quality and efficiency of services or operation of company revenues/expenses. Permitted to make decisions on moderately complex problems/issues
System Analyst Job Summary:
Provide functional design, implementation, and support for the client's information technology systems.
Perform analytical, procedural, and diagnostic processes aimed at designing, implementing, documenting, and supporting information technologies. Provide support for implemented systems. Following project lifecycle methodology and responsible for multiple simultaneous information technology projects.
Manage assigned projects according to IS project management methodology, procedures, and processes.
Maintain current knowledge through reviews literature, patents and current practices which are in line with company strategic direction.
Facilitate the design of moderately complex, integrated solutions to meet business requirements or enhance performance.
Recommend moderate complex systems investment(s) to management and business users based on results of independent assessment of current and future performance, stability, and systems management/life cycle issues.
Under general supervision assume primary responsibility for support and maintanence of multiple Tier 1 incidents and projects.
Manage and maintain inventories related to systems:
c. Asset Management
d. Software Systems
e. Life Cycle Management
Assist in developing and testing disaster recovery processes, train staff and ensure compliance with disaster recovery plans for all supported systems.
Performs vendor comparisons for projects to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations. Measures feasibility of various approaches and make recommendation(s).
Expected to follow strict change control management policies designed to ensure that proper planning, execution, and meticulous documentation for projects of all systems supported.
Provide detailed functional support documentation and maintenance of documentation so that all members of team are able to support any systems.
Maintain daily/weekly/monthly reports regarding projects, activities, and status of open requests and problems.
24 x 7 on-call, some weekend and after hours work is required.
Performs other duties and special projects as required or assigned by management.
