As a Systems Engineer on the Shared Services Team, you'll help design, develop, maintain and deploy systems and software for our large-scale Shared Services products (e.g., Grid-Service, CloudFlare Railgun clusters, etc.). The majority of your time will be spent working on new projects, which either add customer value, or help to improve the day-to-day workflow for our Operations Teams. There will also be a good deal of time spent working on legacy systems either tweaking them, or adding improved functionality.

You'll work with a team of energetic individuals who are passionate about making (mt) one of the leading innovators in the Web Hosting industry! This team is fast-paced, so you won’t find yourself standing still here.

We are an agile (think devops) team so we have a daily standup meeting in the morning. You’ll most likely be doing Admin work along with as much scripting as you’d feel comfortable taking on. Some of our first projects in the pipeline for the new position are finishing our deployment of mod_pagespeed throughout our product.

Required Skills:
Strong systems and network security awareness.

Excellent troubleshooting skills across multiple portions of complex multi-server environments.

Strong drive to document new procedures or to uplift the old ones.

Motivation to improve the knowledge of the rest of the team.

Procedural approach to solving problems.

Efficient with time self-management.

Ability (and enthusiasm) in mentoring less experienced team members

Plays well with others

Nice to have:
Formal education in CS/CE (BS or MS) is welcomed, but not required.

Advanced Database knowledge (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)

We predominantly use Perl at this time, so CPAN contributors welcome!

Experience with Catalyst, Moose, Perl ORMs

We also interact with Python, Ruby, PHP, C/C++, Javascript+DOM, and like Java/Erlang/Scala/etc.

Experience with agile-like development methodologies

Configuration Management (Puppet or similar)
