The Systems Engineer will primarily provide queue coordination, ensuring correct assignment of incident cases and service requests to appropriate support staff including escalation of critical incidents. Additional responsibilities may include comprehensive maintenance, administration, monitoring and support of Microsoft-based server systems. This includes the hardware platforms, operating systems, environment configuration, infrastructure and middleware tools, databases, security and access.
Some operational support, maintenance, administration, and configuration management for Windows Server 2003/2008/2012 physical and virtual servers
Required to provide on-call support and work off-shifts as necessary, in rotation with other engineers.
Position requires knowledge of Windows server operations: patching, antivirus, backup/recovery, monitoring, security, etc.
Provide technical support in the installation, implementation, testing and troubleshooting of hardware, operating system and applications within assigned areas of responsibility
Responsible for applications dealing with the overall operating system, such as sophisticated file maintenance routines, large telecommunications networks, computer accounting and advanced mathematical/scientific software packages
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, B. Tech, or equivalent work experience
Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) preferred
Experience with implementing or supporting large-scale IT operations of at least 700 servers
Knowledge of ITIL Processes (Incident, Change, Problem Management) ITIL Certification Preferred
Knowledge of Windows 2000/2003/2008,2008r2, Active Directory group policy, DHCP, DNS, ISA, SSL. Working knowledge of Dell/HP/IBM hardware,
VMware ESX, ESXi, vSphere 4.x and 5.x (requires some Linux CLI, SAN knowledge, Virtual Center, etc.) VMware Certified Professional (VCP) preferred
Ability to think critically, assess input, and develop creative solutions to identified or potential problems required
Superior customer service, organization, documentation, and planning skills
Self-motivated, eager to learn and progress career in IT
Team player must be able to work with people within and outside of the IT department
Excellent communication skills on all levels; verbal, written and presentation
