The Systems Engineer V will ensure the stability, integrity and performance of all data and storage networking based services. This will be achieved through leading the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, troubleshooting and optimization of all Microsoft Active Directory infrastructure and supporting services (group policy, file servers, backup etc.) and associated hardware and software. As a leading member of a team that provides operational support for an enterprise class healthcare organization, the Systems Engineer V is expected to provide leadership and subject matter expertise for other members of the team through training and daily application of advanced hands on support and operational management activities. Success in this role demands deep and well-rounded technical expertise, excellent organizational skills, discipline and an eagerness to do whatever it takes to get the job done effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

Proactively ensure that cost-effective upgrades are budgeted and planned before service targets are breached or performance issues occur.

Perform analysis and trending of data and storage networking resource use patterns and collaborates with appropriate stakeholders and department leaders to assess near- and long-term capacity needs.

Develop and maintain all documentation as it relates to configuration, processes, service records, asset inventories, topologies, administration manuals, job instructions, support contacts, policies, procedures and training plans.

Accurately maintains, documents and regularly reports on relevant hardware & software sunset dates (EoL, EoS etc.).

Collaborates with Architecture & Engineering teams in identifying new technology initiatives, standards & major changes or upgrades to production environments.

Assures operational readiness of new infrastructure technology releases and hardware/software builds, and collaborates with Enterprise Engineering team to affect zero impact release into production.

Participates in technical design activities/processes & major improvement initiatives to existing data and storage networking systems in collaboration with, and under the direction of the Enterprise Engineering team

Create and maintain efficient deployment processes & techniques for continued roll outs of standardized data and storage networking hardware & configuration deployments which assure compliance with approved configuration standards.

Provide technical expertise, training and guidance to other members of the team.

Proactively recommends and performs performance tuning and optimization activities which maximize efficient use of existing resources.

Proactively identifies resolves and minimizes adverse impacts of complex cross functional incidents and problems to the business caused by errors in the IT infrastructure.

Identifies, records, and tracks known errors, problems and associated workarounds and solutions.

Escalates design flaws to Enterprise Engineering team and assists with resolution as required

Performs ongoing monitoring, analysis, trending and reporting of current resource utilization levels and projects future requirements using trends and thresholds for planning upgrades and enhancements.

Practices asset management, including maintenance of component asset inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information,

Defines, schedules, and implements advanced infrastructure maintenance & refresh activities.

Ensures management is aware of all known and identified risks to system availability, performance, reliability, and security.

Maintains an understanding & awareness of current security threats, vulnerabilities, risks and associated technical countermeasures and security best practices.

Supports and adheres to all compliance and information security policies, practices, and procedures, including the handling of systems and data.

Qualifications:
  • 8-10 years of proven and progressive Microsoft Active Directory infrastructure and supporting services support and implementation experience.
  • Subject matter expertise in information processing principles, practices and demonstrated ingenuity in performing troubleshooting and root cause analysis of complex cross functional problems..
  • Must be self-directed and capable of working effectively with little to no supervision.
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to perform job duties.
  • Previous experience in enterprise class healthcare organizations is strongly preferred.
  • Solid grounding in fundamental data and storage network based security concepts & HIPAA/PCI data privacy practices.
