NORC at the University of Chicago is seeking a qualified Systems Engineer to join the I.T. Department.
NORC's Systems Engineer will support and implement administrative software.
Key responsibilities include being an expert liaison between the business and IT department, knowing how to translate business requirements into IT solutions.
Based in our Chicago Loop location, this position will focus on supporting existing third-party vendor software including accounting, financial planning, human resources, and payroll applications.
Leading implementations and/or upgrades of any new software applications within NORC's administrative systems.
Training users on the new applications and acting as functional expert of the systems
Handling ad-hoc report requests and performing basic server maintenance.
System administration and configuration
Database administration (SQL Server 2000, 2005, and 2008) and DTS/SSIS development.
The candidate will interact with users with various technical expertise and business/financial experience and must be able to communicate effectively.
Managing/Ownership of multiple projects
Documenting technical/business processes
The systems analyst will work as part of a team, but is expected to operate with minimal supervision.
B.S. in Computer Science or an analytical degree such as Finance, Accounting, or Engineering with Information Systems experience
At least three (3) years of relevant work experience
Strong problem solving and analytical skills to diagnose system problems
Working knowledge of SQL language
Familiarity with business intelligence practices, including proficiencies in data warehousing in SQL Server
Knowledge of Extract, Transformation and Load (ETL) tools
Solid written and oral communication skills are required
Additional qualifications preferred:
Understanding of basic financial or accounting principles
Candidates should have knowledge of one or more of the following systems: ADP Enterprise, Deltek Costpoint, Crystal Reports 2008, Cognos Enterprise Planner, Business Objects Enterprise
