-Systems Group Manager, Windows Systems
As a Systems Group Manager, your responsibilities will include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development within the project life-cycle; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff. This individual will assist in the installation/configuration, operation and maintenance of systems hardware.
Successful candidates will be responsible for the following:
Manages a team of technicians to provide appropriate level of support. Plans adequate staffing levels, manages salary administration, promotes training and development and assures compliance with company HR policies and programs.
Defines standards, workflow and processes for systems administration and monitors hardware platform performance.
Researches and recommends innovative/automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identifies approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
Develops and sustains a high level of technical skill and awareness of business needs, participates in the formulation of systems plans in support of business objectives and proactively develops creative, cost-effective, efficient solutions to business problems. Primary liaison between the business owners and IT.
Designs and configures application platforms to accommodate stability, fault tolerance, redundancy and performance requirements for internal and external applications.
Ensures compliance with budget, productivity and quality objectives for the hardware, and serve as the focal point for the resolution of problems. Repairs and recovers from hardware failures and communicates/coordinates as appropriate.
Provides input to the budget process and operates within approved budget guidelines.
Creates a knowledge base of important details of all applications under management including business owners, users and hours of operation, recovery requirements, system architecture and dependencies.
Coordinates user testing when required.
Provides timely, Hands On expertise to production down-issues, including during non-working hours; guide team members and engage in difficult troubleshooting situations; Coordinate Level 3 resources (including, but not limited to, Software Development, Infrastructure & Vendors) if required to resolve issues.
Maintains operational, configuration, other operational procedures. Evaluates technology use and suggest improvements.
Provide monthly updates and reports to management.
Candidates must have a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, or equivalent combination of formal education and work experience. Advanced degree preferred. 7-10 years of Windows Server configuration and 5-7 years financial services experience that includes people-management. Extensive experience with Windows operating systems, server environments and architecture. Experience with Virtualization technologies and SQL Server preferred.
Additional skills and abilities include: strong communications skills (verbal & writing), ability to manage and develop associates, aptitude to learn new technologies quickly and solve complex problems. Strong motivational and organizational skills.
