The University of Massachusetts Amherst is seeking a Systems Manager to oversee computing and information systems for the Graduate School. The Systems Manager will design and implement new computing applications for the Graduate School. This position is responsible for data analysis and reporting of admission and records data both internally and externally. The Systems Manager coordinates ongoing testing of upgrades and patches/fixes for all systems; decides and installs hardware and software acquisitions for the Graduate School; and represents the Associate Graduate Registrar and/or Graduate Registrar in matters pertaining to graduate admissions, enrollment, records and degree requirements.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Information System/Information Technology, Computer Science, Management, or related field, plus 4 years’ related administrative computing experience; or, equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Demonstrated experience with a complex business application, as a programmer and/or analyst. Demonstrated experience with a broad range of computing environments and systems, including PCs and client/server systems, and with user training. Candidates must have 3 years’ direct supervisory experience, and experience supporting a broad range of clients (all organization levels, technical and non-technical) in a customer-oriented position. Excellent oral and written communication; interpersonal and managerial skills. Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines. Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals (faculty, staff, students, etc.). Demonstrated knowledge of current PC hardware, operating systems, and application development with tools such as MS Access, SQL and Java. Demonstrated knowledge of End-user reporting and analysis tools such as BI Publisher, OBIEE, Crystal Reports, PeopleSoft Query and MS Excel. A working understanding of network administration using Active Directory.

Preferred Qualifications: Work experience in higher education setting, experience with document imaging software, and knowledge of federal, state, and university laws, regulations and procedures in regard to the maintenance of student records.

Hiring Salary Range: $48,800 - $61,200
Normal Starting Salary Range: $48,800 - $55,000
