As part of a cross-functional team of Windows and UNIX Systems Administrators, Storage Area Network (SAN) engineers, and Oracle DBAs, provide support planning, development, integration, testing, maintenance, and management of IT services critical to the success of the Decennial Testing and Processing Support (DTAPS) Services to the U.S. Census Bureau Decennial Systems and Contract Management Office (DSCMO).

  • Maintain Decennial and COTS applications and systems
  • Support building and maintaining of UNIX servers
  • Install software and security patches
  • Maintain and baseline all test environments
  • Monitor systems availability and performance
  • Conduct required system backups and provide Disaster Recovery (DR) and Continuity of Operations (COOP) support
  • Support Break/Fix activities to maximize system availability

Essential Duties:
  • Implement all assigned patches for all supported environments within assigned time-frames to mitigate all security vulnerability alerts
  • Coordinate backups relating to UNIX/LINUX/RedHat server environments
  • Ensure systems monitoring so that problems are identified and fixed prior to incurring end-user downtime
  • Support application implementation and application delivery for a variety of UNIX/LINUX/RedHat-based applications
  • Support Disaster Recovery operations
  • Coordinate network operations support for the environment
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure documentation
  • Support ongoing project development and implementation with infrastructure changes and updates
  • Configure and maintain all UNIX/LINUX/RedHat servers for each application across four environments (Beta, Production, Development, and COOP)
  • Generate all required Technical Notices and Configuration Change Requests (CCRs) in support of the Service Request Center (SRC) and maintain status of all assigned, scheduled, implemented, and deferred patches
  • Support the maintenance of all application border diagrams
  • Analyze system resource (CPU, memory, disk space) capacity and utilization and make performance tuning recommendations
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors' degree from a 4-year college or an equivalent from a technical school
  • Must be able to obtain and sustain a Census Bureau Public Trust clearance
  • 5+ years of experience
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
  • Security Scanning experience a plus, but not required
  • RedHat Certification
