Responsible for supporting the tax function by researching, analyzing, recommending and implementing a variety of tax strategies. Assist with the preparation of Federal and state income tax returns and related computations, schedules and disclosures. Assist with the quarterly effective tax rate process and year-end tax provision process, federal and state tax audits and other projects as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with the Company’s effective tax rate calculation in accordance with ASC 740 on a quarterly and annual basis and prepare necessary reports, including tax account roll forwards, support for deferred tax assets and liabilities, and taxes payable reconciliations. Prepare input of US Federal and state tax provision information into TaxStream software.
Assist with the preparation of Federal and state tax returns. This includes collecting the necessary data, performing the computations of book/tax adjustments, and preparing related schedules and disclosures.
Assist with responding to federal, state and local income tax notices and with inquires related to ongoing examinations.
Respond to day-to-day questions from management on various tax issues such as option exercises, compensation matters, fringe benefits such as company automobiles and develop procedures to meet the documentation requirements applicable to these items.
Research tax issues such as stock options, executive compensation, acquisitions and corporate taxation and report findings and make recommendations for changes to corporate management.
Research, identify and recommend corporate tax reductions strategies.
Prepare depreciation book/tax adjustments using data from SAP. Ensure that data used reconciles.
Collect state apportionment data and prepare apportionment schedules. Research state apportionment issues and ensure that various state rules are applied.
Adhere to controls established under Sarbanes Oxley for the income tax cycle.
Reconcile U.S. income tax general ledger accounts and may consolidate global balance sheet accounts as required.
Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in Finance, Accounting or related discipline.
Experience: Zero to 2 years related experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
Certification/Licensure: CPA is preferred.
Other: Strong communications and organization skills required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Charles River Laboratories is an equal opportunity employer who values diversity in the workplace.
