Assist in the setup and performance of experimental programs involving equipment used in the natural gas industry, primarily flow meters; move materials and equipment as required for operations; drive Institute vehicles and forklift for routine purposes and pick up and deliver materials; assist in assembling test fixtures; assist with collection and reduction of test data; use PC to manipulate test data, communicate with Institute staff and provide work documentation; assist with operating test equipment under elevated pressure; assist in preparation of test reports; assist in maintaining equipment and instrumentation; participate in team continuous improvement process.
Education/Experience:
Must pass SwRI Mechanical Assessment test.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with two years of mechanical technician or mechanical maintenance experience. Technology classes or associate level mechanical technician training desirable. Must have mechanical abilities; previous mechanical technician and/or summer job in related field desirable; familiarity with plumbing systems, hand tools and power hand tools a plus; familiarity with machine shop and woodworking tools a plus; must be able to follow verbal and written instructions, lift heavy objects and drive Institute vehicle and forklift; must be willing to expand skills; must have good interpersonal/team skills; must be professional with good work habits, strong workmanship, and have a positive attitude; good verbal skills are required; good technical writing skills is a plus. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
