POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing excellent Customer Service to ALL customers. This position processes a smooth efficient flow of incoming and outgoing calls while operating a state of the art multi-position PBX console, and pages by audio and radio equipment, while accessing various databases for information.

This position answers all calls in a pleasant, polite manner, using good quality service, saying the appropriate greeting, no exception.

Operators process over 4,000 calls per day for patient information, general information, and emergency control twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.

Operators access various computers and databases, including Physicians Profiler, EPIC patient information screen, Wireless Office, the Communicator, and the Zetron Paging Terminal to program in-house pagers for repair.

Responsible for answering calls in priority, including the CODE phone on the first ring.

Has the ability to perform emergency procedures in “life or death” situations including Code Blue (cardiac arrest), Code Red (fire alarms and drills), Code Yellow (disaster) and other stat requests.

This position must refer callers to DID numbers when appropriate as this allows for the most efficient use of hospital equipment and the flow of traffic.

This position is responsible for memorizing department extensions, Administration names and numbers, key personnel, and beeper numbers.

Responsible for various files and records pertaining to the on-call assignments for medical staff, nursing, and other personnel on a daily basis.

Responsible for developing overlapping skills, using side phone, using hold button, checking schedules while continuing to answer calls with speed and accuracy maintaining excellent customer service.

Position receives assignments and direction from the Team Leader of Operator Services.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
High school graduate or GED preferred.

Licensure:

Certification:
NA

Experience:
Previous Customer Service experience preferred in a PBX, call center or similar

telephone business setting.

Skills/Other:
Positive attitude is essential.

Must possess basic computer knowledge and skills.

Excellent voice modulation and grammar (able to put a smile in your voice).

Excellent communication skills with the ability to carry out the functions of the role.

Good organizational skills and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

Must possess auditory and visual faculties as well as finger dexterity.

Good memory in dealing with numbers.

Good listening skills. Ability to work effectively in stressful situations.
