The Test Engineer is responsible for assuring the integrity of The Home Depot direct import and private branded products. Candidates will represent the Product Engineering group through participation on project teams and will demonstrate, through testing, that new products for The Home Depot meet all necessary requirements including, but not limited to, federal, state and local regulations, industry standards and The Home Depot performance and quality requirements. Candidate is responsible for coordinating activities with contracted, third party service providers (SPs) for writing test protocols, planning and scheduling testing, analysis of results and review activities, executing pre-purchase testing (PPT) of products, and providing documentation for all verification and validation activities. Candidate will also be responsible for review of all vendor submitted engineering change notices (ECN), will recommend appropriate testing and will approve/reject ECNs.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
20% Create new, or modify existing testing plans to ensure compliance to regulatory, industry standard and internal requirements.
20% Execute the testing of products. Where appropriate, this will include, but not be limited to, tests for:
20% Ensure all PPT protocols and reports are compliant to THD requirements.
10% Review and approve test reports from SPs
10% Evaluate test failures, determine root causes and recommend appropriate corrective actions
10% Demonstrate customer focus, cross-functional collaboration and teamwork skills, continuous improvement, and sound judgment.
10% Evaluate product design changes as documented in ECNs and determine appropriate levels of testing.

EDUCATION REQUIRED
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a trade school degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree in electronic engineering or equivalent post-secondary training in engineering.
Experience analyzing product requirements and developing test plans and test procedures to verify those requirements.
Experience with Risk Management activities (hazard analysis, fault tree analysis, FMEA) and reliability analysis is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques for test data is preferred.
Proficiency in preparing formal technical reports.
Experience participating on cross-functional project teams.
Possess excellent written, listening, and verbal communication skills.
