This team lead opportunity in Customer Service is integral in working with our field office and underwriting to assist with strategic proposals. Direct new business acquisition efforts in ISG Customer Service for all sizes of accounts that have bid questions. Oversee all proposal workflow for National Accounts (and Regional Accounts where appropriate for the business model), including strategic proposal work. Coordinate with Marketing and Benefits to ensure bid response efforts are comprehensive and effective from a customer’s point of view. Clearly articulate and demonstrate The Standard’s product and service differentiators to attract and retain profitable National Account customers. This position manages a team of 12-14 team members in a high production environment.
Strong experience in work flow and capacity management is preferred. Responsible for managing the work environment, identifying workforce needs and ensuring alignment with corporate manager expectations, values and vision.
Supervise Proposal Analysts to successfully respond on bid questionnaires and attract new customers. Engage employees to reduce expenses while delivering the best quality targeted proposal packages. Develop and manage an appropriate approach for groups under 2,500 lives, when it makes sense to offer streamlined packages. Track activity and allocate workloads between team members. Manage activities in Home Office and remote Home Office locations. Responsible for managing budget center for Proposals.
Responsible for the selection, development, motivation, appraisal and salary recommendations of direct reports. Contribute to the company’s progress in affirmative action. Assess skill level of technical and business staff, including remote employees, and counsel staff on appropriate development to assure skills evolve and meet changing work requirements. Foster a strong work environment with rewards based on The Standard’s values and behaviors. Encourage creativity while maintaining high productivity and consistency.
Work with Process Manager to develop, document and install proposal process (including the strategic proposal process) identifying timelines, roles/responsibilities, performance standards and post implementation satisfaction. Work with Marketing Director, Account Consultants, Underwriters, Contract Analysts, Benefits and Sales to coordinate proposal activities so they are seamless and effective from a customer's point of view, and ensuring Field Office satisfaction. Ensure timeliness meets expectations consistently. Analyze and manage change management for processes within your control.
Promote a sense of teaming among all team members. Focus on customer needs versus internal processes. Work closely with peers in Risk Management, Customer Service and the Field to foster teamwork, idea sharing and customer fulfillment.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
Experience: 3 to 4 years progressively responsible experience in insurance administration and customer service, including one year in a leadership or supervisory role, preferably with large cases, or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
Professional certification required: ACS, FLMI or CEBS preferred.
