The Transit Marketing Specialist, under the general direction of the Transit Systems Manager, serves as the primary planning, coordination, design, and implementation staff for public transportation marketing and communications efforts. An employee in this class maintains an in depth knowledge of available transportation services and existing and potential user groups. The Transit Marketing Specialist helps to increase ridership, promote customer satisfaction, and improve public image of the transportation system through the creation and maintenance of effective communication materials and channels. The Transit Marketing Specialist leads the development, design, and production of print, broadcast, and web-based marketing materials, social networking and e-newsletters, flyers, and other materials. The Transit Marketing Specialist may attend outreach events as a representative of the County, be tasked to assist other County Departments on projects as needed, and perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Entrance Qualifications:
Possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Graphic Design or closely related field; AND
Have at least two (2) years of experience in coordinating, organizing, and implementing marketing programs; OR
Possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Marketing, Communications, or closely related field; AND
Have extensive coursework and at least two years direct experience with Graphic Design or Web Design; AND
Have at least two (2) years of experience in coordinating, organizing, and implementing marketing programs.
Physical Conditions / Work Location:
An employee in this class of work performs generally sedentary work activities requiring the occasional lifting of objects weighing thirty-five (35) pounds or less.
This employee generally works in the County offices, although travel to other areas throughout the County may be required.
The selected candidate must take a post-offer medical examination (including back screen and complete physical) and drug screening test given by a County appointed physician before the first day of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the medical examination and drug screening test. Applicants for County employment may be subject to a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the nature and assignment of the position. When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check. Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment will be considered permanent.

The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications. This list remains in effect for three months unless exhausted or extended.
