APPOINTMENT FACTORS: This is a Permanent Excepted Service position. This is a bargaining unit position.
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED: This is an Excepted position that requires active membership in a compatible skill in the Missouri Air National Guard and wear of the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidate will be required to be in a compatible military assignment prior to effective date of placement. Selected candidate must be AFSC qualified within 12 months from date of appointment.
Maximum Military Grade - TSgt (E-6)
Minimum Military Grade - SrA (E-4)
Enlisted - AFSC 2T0XX or 2T1XX
Supervisor must verify that selected individual occupies a compatible military position. Technicians will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor (grade inversion).
IMPORTANT NOTES: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances are not authorized for this position. Required Security Clearance is Noncritical Sensitive.
Failure to complete management prescribed courses for full-time support personnel within the first year of employment or assignment, may be cause for reassignment or termination.

Assists in managing, directing, developing, planning and analyzing deployment and distribution management programs. Formulates and procures transportation arrangements with commercial carriers and appropriate military services for charter of passenger service for individual/group movements, equipment, supplies and material. Analyzes and evaluates travel requirements while considering cost and mission accomplishment as factors. Determines the most appropriate, efficient and economical transportation services IAW applicable cargo movement directives. Conducts dispatch operations through planning and scheduling of vehicle operations resources to meet transportation support requirements. Administers installation driver qualification and licensing program. Functions as a technical advisor to all statewide and base operating officials on matters dealing with commercial movement of personnel and cargo. Determines proper identification, marking, labeling, and special handling instruction on all shipments. Responsible for defining augmentation requirements when called upon to expand operations to perform surface cargo deployment function during installation deployments or other surge operations. Participates in unit assessments, inspections, installation deployment plans, deployments, and disaster preparedness exercises. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
GS-06 Specialized Experience: Must have 9 months of specialized experience that demonstrates knowledge and application of transportation regulations, methods and practices to perform a wide variety of both routine and specialized transportation support assignments related to the movement of equipment, supplies and personnel. Experience must include your ability to obtain and interpret information, resolve recurring problems, coordinate actions, and conduct extensive searches.
General Experience: Must have clerical, administrative or technical experience which demonstrates ability to interpret, explain and/or apply basic rules, regulations, policies and procedures of a transportation program.
