DESCRIPTION

Access Media 3 (AM3) is looking for a Tax Accountant to become part of their Accounting and Finance team. This position is responsible for continually monitoring the financial control processes and ensuring that tax and accounting transactions are executed in accordance with tax laws and established standards of internal controls. AM3 is a premier provider of "bulk" TV, internet and phone services to the Owners and Managers of multi-tenant residential properties including condos, apartments, retirement communities and college housing.

Position Summary/Key Objectives:
This position is under the direct supervision of the Controller; responsible for interpretive financial research and analysis for managements use in the development and measurement of business strategies and tactics.

  • Independently analyzes accounts and reports, prepares tax returns, tax filings and supporting documentation.
  • Provides technical expertise to auditors relating to U.S. federal and state and/or non - U.S. income tax matters.
  • Understands and provides guidance to employees as well as other departments and auditors on simple to moderately complex tax issues.
DUTIES

  • Prepare and estimate federal and state income tax payments.
  • Compile and prepare basic corporate, partnership, and S-corp. returns.
  • Prepare various federal and state income tax returns along with other various tax filings: Annual reports and Sales and Use Tax, etc.
  • Manage and remain up-to-date on multi-state Sales and Use tax filings along with setting up new states as needed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing and collection of state taxes.
  • Track, monitor and develop systems for monthly, quarterly and annual taxes and fees.
  • Assist in federal and state audits.
  • Independently research and analyze accounts and reports, prepare tax returns, tax filings and supporting documentation.
  • Applies fundamental accounting concepts and practices in assigned areas.
  • Prepare analysis of tax expenses for month-end accounting close review including the creation and maintenance of operational metrics for key processes.
  • Create and maintain asset lists per state.
  • Ensure that proper internal controls over the tax compliance process are in place and are tested on a routine basis, in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Work with third party vendor on reporting withholdings and SUTA.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; two to four years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working for a Big 4 public accounting firm is preferred. Combination of public accounting and industry experience is preferable.
  • Experience with local, county, city, state and federal taxes.
  • Certified Public Accountant certification preferred.
  • Prior state and local tax compliance audit, public accounting or telecommunications industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • An ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and Internet software.
  • Advanced Excel skills to include the ability to perform pivot tables, VLOOKUP and high-level functions and formulas.
This position is part-time, working 20 - 30 hours a week with a flexible work schedule. The Tax Accountant is an integral part of our Accounting and Finance Team.
