Job Title: Tax Analyst Area of Interest: Accounting/Auditing/Finance
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Tax, the individual in this position will be responsible for the preparation of United States federal and state income tax returns for the United States consolidated group and the United States income of the foreign shipping operations. Information returns (forms 5471, 5472, etc.) are also required. This individual must be able to independently research and analyze appropriate tax law and prepare research memoranda as required. Must have the ability to work as a team and meet deadlines and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Prepare United States federal and state income and franchise tax returns and workpapers, including extensions and estimates.
Prepare United States federal and state information returns.
Assist in federal and state tax planning.
Prepare federal and state income tax provisions.
Assist with federal and state tax audits.
Assist management with the interpretation and the impact of new laws, decisions, regulations, rulings and proposed tax legislation.
Assist with special projects as assigned.
Provide written and oral presentations on tax issues. Requirements:
Requires a professional level of knowledge in tax law, equivalent to that which would be acquired through the completion of a Master of Science in Taxation (MST) degree. CPA or Enrolled Agent
Experience with tax preparation for corporate tax returns, preparation of consolidated tax returns, and FAS 109 tax provisions preferably in Big 4 or in a large national firm
Experience in the research, interpretation, and application of Federal, state, and international tax law
Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills for presenting and resolving complex and controversial issues and responding effectively to sensitive inquiries
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
Prior experience with GoSystem Tax software or other tax compliance software is a plus
