POSITION OVERVIEW

The Tax Analyst is responsible for supporting the coordination of the preparation and review of US, Canadian, and other jurisdiction income tax returns and for preparation of the tax provisions for Intrawest’s group of over 100 companies in North America. A significant part of these processes will include coordinating and communicating regularly with the Company’s outside tax return preparers, advisors and auditors. The Tax Analyst provides support with process improvement initiatives, government tax audits, the reconciliation of all tax accounts, and will be responsible for the application and support of technology as it supports the corporate tax function.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Contributing member of the Tax Department with accountability for enhancing the Tax Department’s infrastructure and processes Support the tax filings for US and Canadian corporate and partnership income taxes, including creation and maintenance of annual PCB lists, tax work papers where needed and permanent files. Develop, implement and maintain clear methodologies for managing preparation of returns by external preparers Prepare the group’s tax provisions Draft responses to tax authority notices Maintain, further develop and apply an in-depth, up to date knowledge of the federal and state income tax code, regulations, rulings and double tax treaties applicable to the group Develop an understanding of the significance of non-income taxes to the company, including payroll taxes, sales taxes, excise taxes and transfer taxes Draft future tax calculations and other various ad-hoc requests related to accounting for taxes Calculate tax installments and prepare tax account reconciliations Maintain the tax calendar. Exercise responsibility for ensuring that all assigned tax filings are timely by managing internal resources and communicating with external advisors. Lead the application of technology to the tax function and liaise closely with the accounting groups utilizing the same technology and be the knowledge expert for all tax function related technology
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:
CPA desired; BS in Accounting

Experience:
2-4 years of corporate and partnership income tax experience, either in industry or public practice Big four, middle range accounting firm or corporate tax department preferred Demonstrated ability to work with internal or external clients. Some experience of dealing with international tax matters preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge:
Working knowledge of U.S. corporate tax returns. Knowledge of U.S. partnership returns and state tax returns, Canadian tax, an advantage Thorough knowledge of Federal and State Tax regulations

Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated understanding of book to tax adjustments, tax file maintenance Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to obtain accurate conclusions and make appropriate recommendations Strong verbal and written communication skills An ability to work independently and prioritize a demanding workload An ability to manage multiple priorities Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite) Knowledge, skill and ability to work effectively with others to achieve optimal collective results Ability to speak and write clearly and succinctly in a variety of settings and styles; ability to secure information, listen effectively and get messages across that have the desired effect Think critically and act logically to evaluate situations and generates required steps to ensure success
