Responsibilities

Teach computer skills to 1199SEIU health care workers with little or no knowledge of computers; teach Microsoft applications to students with basic computer skills

Assist with the design and implementation of student placement and evaluation procedures

Create lesson plans and curriculum; recommend books and materials for class

Communicate with administrative staff about student participation and progress, identify options to assist students in meeting educational goals

Participate in collaborative staff development program, including meetings, conferences, and special events

Complete required paperwork for class, including attendance and end-of-semester student progress reports

Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; Masters Degree preferred

Minimum three (3) years teaching adult learners

Experience in adult education, training, or workforce development

Demonstrated proficiency with Windows XP and Microsoft Office

Demonstrated knowledge of learner centered teaching approaches

Experience developing and customizing curriculum using various sources

Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team

Must meet performance standards including attendance and punctuality

  • Note: This is a temporary part-time position. Classes will be held afternoons and/or evenings at 1199SEIU worksites in Malden, MA.
Work schedule: Four (4) hours/week

Salary: $28/hr; including one hour prep time for each hour of teaching
