Assist classroom staff with all classroom related duties and serve as an active facilitator of children’s educational and behavioral goals by role modeling and interacting with students as part of a trans-disciplinary team. They provide educational intervention, under the direction of the special education teacher, to help each child reach his/her highest level of independence.
Job Requirements :
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of one year experience working with children in a classroom or childcare environment. Working with children with special needs preferred.
Must have the ability to work with and supervise children in a variety of educational settings including, but not limited to, self-contained, integrated, off-site, and childcare.
Must be at least 18 years of age to supervise children independently.
Must be physically able to handle all aspects of the supervision of the day-to-day activities of preschoolers which may include, but not limited to, running, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Must be certified by New York State as a teacher assistant.
Bilingual preferred.
ABA experience preferred.
