The California Hospital Medial Center Early Care and Education programs provide child care services for infants, toddlers and pre-school children. Staff within these programs are charged with nurturing and stimulating the social, emotional, language, cognitive, and physical development of each child. Center-based Early Care and Education programs are open year round from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m,. Monday though Friday.
A minimum of two years of classroom experience working with children birth to five years. Meet minimum qualifications as per Title 22 and Title 5 regulations to include the core units of child or human growth & development, and child, family & community coursework; must have completed at least 24 semesters units in ECE, including 3 units related to the care of infants. AA degree in Child Development or BA degree in Child Development preferred. Fifteen (15) hours of training in preventative health practices including pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and pediatric first aid. Ability to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals from a variety of socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds and at various organizational levels. Skill in working independently and in following through on assigned projects in an independent and responsive manner, under minimal supervision. Experience in providing child development services to low-income families and families from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Knowledge of normal infant, toddler, and pre-school development and early childhood education/child care practices. Knowledge of Creative Curriculum theory and practice Knowledge of hygiene, first aid and safety practices and procedures. Knowledge of child abuse reporting laws. Ability to write concise, logical, and grammatically correct reports. Skill in organizing and maintaining accurate records and documentation. Bilingual English /Spanish language skills preferred. California Department of Education Teacher Permit preferred.
