Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health, founded in 1986, is an 82
bed facility within the city of Norfolk, Virginia. Kempsville Center
for Behavioral Health offers comprehensive mental health programs to
the state of Virginia. We provide psychiatrically and medically
managed acute and residential treatment for children and adolescents
with significant impairments in their social and emotional
development. We provide quality care to children and adolescents in
need using quality, evidence based practice treatments. We are
accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC), and are licensed by the
Commonwealth of Virginia and The Virginia Department of Behavioral
Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS). Kempsville Center for
Behavioral Health currently has a TEACHER position available. The
candidate selected will be responsible for the following:
Planning and implementing Education Plan for students. Participates
with vocational, patient/resident care, recreation and clinical staff
in formulating and implementing Individual Education Plan for
assigned students. Serves as a role model for students to observe and
learn socially effective values, attitudes and behaviors.
Undergraduate degree in
Education with Virginia certification in specific subject or
None required. One
year experience working with children and adolescents preferred.
Must possess knowledge of and ability to
implement education theory; regular educational curriculum and
development; behavioral management techniques; and utilization within
education settings; teaching skills for special needs students; good
oral and written communication skills and good interpersonal skills.
