ROADS seeks Founding Teachers (English and Mathematics) who want to dramatically change the life trajectories of disconnected youth. We are looking for teachers for a unique high school, designed to reach one of the most underserved populations of the achievement gap.
Our Founding Teachers will:
Be founding members of a team dedicated to ensuring educational opportunities for even the most at-risk high school students;
Share our commitment to innovative, high quality, results-oriented teaching that transforms students’ lives;
Contribute significantly to the design and direction of a school with a unique mission;
Be part of a new, nationally-oriented organization with growth potential;
Build an exemplary high school that demonstrates a new model for serving disconnected youth; and
Receive regular, ongoing feedback and support from an outstanding leadership team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Set and hold students to high academic, behavioral, and character standards.
Implement curriculum to meet academic goals.
Design and use assessments to track progress towards academic targets.
Support ROADS’ culture and behavior systems.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, caregivers, and faculty.
Use assessment data to recalibrate curriculum and inform instructional practices.
Participate in curriculum development, grade- or subject-level planning, and school-wide functions.
Meet the needs of a range of students.
QUALIFICATIONS
Unapologetically believe that disconnected youth can become college- and career-ready with the right support.
Familiarity with online or project-based learning.
New York State certified preferred; further preference for dual certifications in either Special Education, English Language Learners, or English as a Second Language

LOCATION
Open positions for ELA teachers in the Bronx and ELA and Math teachers in Brooklyn, New York. Brooklyn applicants require Special Education certification.
COMPENSATION
Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience.
