Assists teachers in the development and implementation of an individual and group educational programs for children enrolled in program.
Scope of Supervision
Computer; printer; fax machine; calculator; copier; telephone; laminator; thermometer; television; DVD player; stove; digital camera; microwave; van; and other standard office and classroom equipment.

Classroom environment. Good working conditions. Employee may be exposed to childhood illnesses, diseases and blood borne pathogens. The work environment involves risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions typical of a classroom environment. The work requires the use of safe work practices with office and classroom equipment, and observance of safety regulations. Exposure to hot and cold weather conditions when supervising outdoor play.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently stands, walks, sits, stoops, and kneels for periods of time. Employee may be required to carry supplies and equipment, and lift children up to 45 pounds.
An appropriate combination of education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification is: High School Diploma, with one year related experience.
Applicant must successfully pass required background checks and obtain a physical which includes a tuberculosis vaccination in accordance with Southern State Community College’s policies and procedures and applicable laws.
Ability to document identity and employment eligibility as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.
Licensure or Certification Requirements
First Aid, Infant/Child/Adult CPR , Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting, and Communicable Disease Management Training Certifications; State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.

Essential Job Duties

Assists with planning, developing and implementing age appropriate activities and lessons as directed by the Site Administrator and classroom teacher.
Assists with the maintenance of daily and monthly records of children and classroom activities.
Assists teacher with child evaluation and supporting the developed individualized teaching strategies for each child.
Assists with gathering information, documents and items to be included in each child’s portfolio.
Communicates with teacher and Site Administrator as to the progress of each child.
Maintains a safe and comfortable environment for children.
Performs general duties to prepare and maintain classroom. Sweeps floor, cleans tables, throws away trash, cleans and sanitizes room (and items) as required. Assists children during meal time.
Administers first aid as appropriate and documents incident on Incident/Injury Report form. Reports all injuries to the Site Administrator. Diapers children, cleans diapering area, assists children with toileting and teaches hygiene.
Complies with Ohio state licensing policies and procedures and maintains required records for inspection.
Assists other classroom teachers and the Site Administrator as appropriate.
Maintains knowledge of childcare by attending training and seminars.
Maintains confidentiality of confidential or sensitive records and information.
Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and punctual attendance and works overtime as required to meet workload demands.
