Job Description

The candidate for this position will be responsible for:
Significant accounting and reporting activities of Fortegra Financial, including proper detailed journal entry and account reconciliation preparation, as well as the accurate and timely completion of assigned financial statements and related disclosures that are components of Fortegra's quarterly and annual GAAP financial statements filed with the SEC. This position has a primary role in maintaining the general ledger system's chart of accounts, reporting capabilities, and end user authorities. Additional assignments may include technical accounting research, assistance with due diligence efforts, and other projects and tasks in support of department and company objectives.
Primary Job Functions
Prepare consolidation and elimination monthly journal entries for a complex organization.
Verify intercompany balances and work with others to correct any differences.
Prepare primary GAAP financial statements, including statements of equity and cash flows.
Assist in the collection and verification of support to financial statements, notes, and MD&A.
Coordinate audit support for quarterly reviews and annual audits. Ensure timely provision of all requests, including preparation of fluctuation analyses and other schedules requested.
Prepare draft SSAE 16 (SAS 70) reports and coordinate related audits.
Maintain the General Ledger account structure and user privileges; write reports as needed.
Education and Skill Requirements
• 7+ years progressive experience, with demonstrated success at senior accountant level.
• Consolidations of complex corporate structures
• GAAP Financial Statement preparation.
• Audit Coordination.
• Technical Accounting Research.
• Combination Public/Private experience preferred.
• Utilize spreadsheet software.
• Insurance or Financial Services background preferred.
• Detail knowledge of US GAAP and technical accounting issues.
• Ability to research technical accounting issues, assess and clearly document accounting positions.
• Oracle GL experience strongly preferred, experience with enterprise-level GL packages required.
• Detail orientation with workpaper techniques consistent with the needs of a public company.
• Very strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel.
• Strong communication skills and demonstrated willingness to share information and work in a team.
• Willingness to commit to a fast-paced work environment with strict deadlines.
