IT Technical Application Analyst

Goals and Responsibilities:
Provides application development for new systems and maintenance support on existing systems. Serves as a technical expert on systems for which he/she is responsible. Provides technical advisement regarding the identification, adoption and implementation of new systems.

Ensures that the application meets the operational business needs and that the system can support changes in business strategy or operations. Manages efforts for enhancements that improve and upgrade the system (s).

Provides expertise to acquire, manage, manipulate, and analyze data. In collaboration with others (IT and business users), develops and maintains databases and data systems. Exhibits technical expertise regarding data models and database design/development.

Serves as back-up to the Applications Analyst position which requires the ability to provide functional level application knowledge where necessary.

Essential Activities:
• Proactively communicate and collaborate with internal customers to analyze information needs in order to deliver technical specifications to meet the need

• Significant experience in data mining techniques and procedures and knowing when their use is appropriate

• Analyze application components to ensure online screens, databases, interfaces, file and reports function appropriately to ensure data integrity and operational and technical performance

• Ability to multitask in a fast paced business environment

• Ability to develop and troubleshoot complex SQL queries

• Development and maintenance of WEB based applications

• Performs complex problem solving on assigned applications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.

• Contributes timely and accurate updates relative to assigned initiative (s) status and issue

• Work with end-users to define and execute test scenarios and ensure appropriate end user training.

• Development of accurate, well-maintained system documentation

• Strong technical skills coupled with business intelligence and a deep understanding of customer's needs so that they can be transformed into application and operational requirements

• Defines test conditions; accurate and complete test plans where necessary.

• Identifies and documents system deficiencies and recommends solutions.

• Create and present quality dashboards

• Generate routine and ad hoc reports

• Ability to present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner

• Manage and monitor critical databases, implementing modifications and upgrades as necessary to ensure optimum performance.

• Develop/maintain custom reports in SQL Server Reporting Services or other applicable reporting tools

• Maintain/develop the integration of data sources to corporate websites; implement enhancements to the corporate websites including UI design and system architecture.

Required Qualifications

Ability to work alone as well as part of a team. Person must be able to work and communicate with people at all levels of the company. Strong data modeling and analysis skills. Experience with the development and support of WEB applications. Adept at queries and report writing

Prerequisites:
BA/BS Degree, in a technology related field or other degree preferred.

4-6 years experience in building and supporting mission critical business applications

Strong understanding of relational database

Strong understanding of web technologies (including databases, XML, HTML)

Experience in software development using object-oriented programming language(s)

Experience in data management including SQL query development and report writing

Proficiency in HTML web design and familiarity with content management systems

Strong knowledge of: SQL, Object Oriented Programming (.NET preferred), Data Modeling, HTML/DHTML, JavaScript, XML, Reporting applications (SQL Server Reporting Services preferred)

Previous Experience Desired:
Database design and data capture

Experience with testing -defining and executing test plans

Microsoft SQL -ability to create complex queries in SQL

Object Oriented Programming

Experience creating functional and technical specs

Experience coordinating timelines.
