Identifies and develops solutions to business problems leveraging known technical standards or by identifying new standards and processes.Builds relationships with internal resources and partners to accomplish project objectives. Understands NiSource processes and procedures used to request work to be completed. Has the technical expertise to build or modify complex computing systems and processes. The Technical Architect will take direction from the Lead Solution Architect to meet the overall goals and objectives of a given initiative.The relationships and tasks for the Technical Architect include, but are not limited to, understanding how to work with the internal Architecture Teams to request new infrastructure and to support the installation of applications/databases to meet the requirements of a given project. The Technical Architect will also need to be able to work with functional teams to drive out requirements and coordinate efforts associated with business requests while working across both internal and external parties. The Technical Architect should have broad technical knowledge with at least one specialized area of interest. The areas include, but are not limited to, batch operations, performance testing and execution, integrations, configuration/version control, infrastructure and capacity planning, redundancy/availability and disaster recovery. Having an understanding or experience with the associated business processes being supported by the technology is a plus (e.g., Finance and Accounting processing, Data Warehousing, etc.).The Technical Architect will work closely with the NiSource Enterprise Architecture team to understand the corporate architecture strategic direction in order to implement solutions that meet the NiSource standards. The Technical Architect will also be responsible for participating in standards reviews and will work on sub teams to identify and implement new standards and technologies.
The key responsibility of this position is to drive a given solution from end to end. This position will be a common thread through the solution regardless of how many other groups are involved in implementing the finished product.
Responsible for the overall design and implementation of an acceptable/standard solution for at least one of the following domains:
Performance Testing and Execution
Redundancy/Availability, Disaster Recovery, Failover
Provides input into the overall high-level System Design
Reviews Functional and Technical Designs to provide feedback and guidance and to identify system level non-functional requirements
Responsible for coordinating discussions between the key resources required to complete deliverables
Fosters teamwork among the various technical and functional teams across NiSource
Responsible for quality assurance and verification that implemented solutions will meet the proposed benefits or ROI
Will identify and own technical project issues/risks and will see them through resolution
Will provide technical guidance and explanation of project solutions to Solution Architecture Lead, Technical Lead, Advisors or functional teams
Required for Selection:
Bachelors Degree or equivalency (CS, CE, CIS, IS, MIS, or engineering discipline)
1-3 years professional work experience withproficiency in at least one of the following domains:
Performance Testing and Execution
Infrastructure (hardware, network, database) and Capacity Planning
Redundancy/Availability, Disaster Recovery
Experience with the full Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred for Selection:
Experience in the energy industry, natural gas industry and associated business processes
Strong Leadership Capability
Works well in team environment to develop effective working relationships with others
Proven ability to manage non-direct reports (people), processes and systems in stressful situations
Proven analytical skills; Adept and comfortable with learning and being able to understand new technology; understands and leverages available resources
