Technical Architects lead medium to large engagements, particularly for

technically complex solutions. TA’s evangelize Optaros’ technical

capabilities during sales activities and shape and communicate proposed

solutions to senior client management. TA’s interact at the VP and CXO

level on the client side. They may be leveraged across projects to ensure

teams deliver solutions that meet business goals and user requirements.

Technical Architects provide external leadership by maintaining Optaros’

presence in OS communities.



& Skills

12+ years experience as a technical developer or related work

experience; 6+ years in technical leadership roles, leading projects or

development teams; experience in a project-based consulting


Expertise architecting and designing software solutions for various

problem types

Extensive experience with custom software development: OOAD
Methodologies; OO Design Patterns; Open Source J2EE Tools and

Frameworks (Hibernate, Struts, Spring, PHP, AJAX); Web Services,

middleware and messaging technologies (MQ Series, JMS); Web

Application Servers and associated products (Portal, Commerce,

Workflow, content server)

Solid experience with popular Open Source platforms, frameworks and

components such as Magento, Drupal, Django, and Symfony

Solid knowledge of system administration, as well as software and hardware

Ability to make informed recommendations to customer IT


Ability to troubleshoot pre- and post-production


Experience designing and implementing security, load

balancing and performance for web solutions

Solid understanding of databases:
Familiarity with data modeling/design techniques
Knowledgeable of data interface protocols
Experience performing database software installation
Experience with database tuning

Extensive experience with debugging, reuse, source code

management strategies (e.g. forking, branching), and release


Well thought out view regarding software trends and the role of Open

Source within those trends

Experience mentoring within the technical discipline



Extensive understanding of Fixed Price Fixed Fee project planning and


High degree of comfort in supporting sales activities:
Expert level experience in analyzing business goals and

metrics, understanding best practices while maintaining

clients’ strategic direction

Experience shaping Design and Build

projects including authoring/reviewing proposals and SOWs

Experience identifying staffing needs and other resource needs

for project success

Able to communicate value and results of proposed approach

with senior client management.

Experience interacting with and gaining the trust of the highest level
of technical and business unit level resources at client sites; proven

ability to win client’s confidence

Proven project management skills:
Estimating work, project planning and tracking
Risk analysis
Scope control, including managing client dependencies
Managing technical resources through all phases of project


Understanding of the impact of decisions, issues, risks and

missed dependencies

Effectively communicating needs and changes to client and

internal management

Excellent communicator (facilitation, presentation, verbal and written)
Excellent promoter of Optaros’ capabilities in sales and client

management activities
