Responsible for purchasing and supply base management of components at the lowest possible total end-use cost, achieving competitive advantage by continuous improvement of quality, delivery, service and total acquisition cost. May travel up to 25%.
Prepare and execute request for quotes, compile data, analyze quotes and complete documentation for purchase orders and entry/filing of po’s.
Maintain accuracy of purchasing records in SAP system (PN, supplier data, pricing, terms)
Manage supply base performance against targets (quality / delivery / cost) through active supplier monitoring, score card, competitive peer ranking, and cost analysis.
Work with suppliers to ensure performance targets are attained. Establish and track recovery plans to address supplier issues. Drive corrective actions with suppliers when quality, delivery, cost performance targets are not met.
Resolve discrepancies with supplier and coordinate internally (pricing, quantity, chargebacks, returns)
Complete benchmarking activities, supplier evaluation, cost modeling, and cost reduction projects (e.g. supply base footprint changes, material changes, term)
Support negotiations of purchase price and other terms of a contractual agreement.
Research, evaluate and recommend potential suppliers. Evaluate suppliers on site, model cost, complete new supplier assessment and prepare sourcing recommendation.
Create and maintain approved supplier list and update categorization and status based on supplier performance.
Assist in developing, implementing and updating purchasing strategy.
Work closely with product, operations, replenishment, and global purchasing to identify and capitalize opportunities to streamline supply chain thru supply base for the best allocation of resources that provide a cost advantage and competitive edge.
Monitor supply base dynamics (component changes, financial health, organizational shifts) and take proactive actions.
Special projects as assigned.
5– 7 years of combined operations, commercial, materials, project management, supply base experience.
Highly energetic, fast learner, team oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.
Technical background – print and spec literate, understands operations and manufacturing processes.
Automotive OE requirements knowledge a plus.
Strong project management and leadership skills to drive sustained improvement in internal and external suppliers.
Excellent commercial and negotiation skills.
Highly developed analytical and interpersonal skills.
Must possess a high level of independent judgment, professionalism, integrity and honesty.
Must have a sense of urgency.
Track record of obtaining goal-oriented results.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, advanced excel.
SAP experience preferred.
Works closely with vendors, suppliers, product management. Has no direct reports.
