Working closely with Product Management and Engineering, the Technical Communications Project Manager will be responsible for the production of all company technical documents. A successful candidate must have the demonstrated ability to identify, contract, supervise, and actively manage a large and complex network of 3

party content providers while meeting demanding quality, budget and schedule commitments. Technical communication products include items such as Online Help Files, Getting Started Guides, Quick Start Posters, Tech Tips and How To Guides. Since eInstruction is an international company, many aspects of our technical communication program must be localized into a variety of languages. The Technical Communications Project Manager will also be responsible for managing the localization process for our technical communications deliverables.

Responsibilities

Be the company’s acknowledged leader in the creation and refinement of a vision for technical communications’.

Identify contractors; create and manage contracts and budgets; set and enforce appropriate quality standards.

Proactively manage workflow for a network contract writers and localization firms to create and deliver the company’s technical documents on schedule for each of the company’s products.

Operate independently, while directing and managing all technical communications projects from start to finish.

Plan, schedule and monitor timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.

Effectively communicate project plans/continual project status to team members and stakeholders in a clear and timely fashion.

Anticipate and resolve issues that may affect program deliverables.

Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises and devise contingency plans as needed.

Work closely with product managers and product marketing managers to understand product and features, functionality, and customer benefits.

Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Education

Demonstrate strong knowledge of software localization process.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of product managers and other subject matter experts.

Ability to work effectively and professionally as part of a diverse team.

Ability to manage and organize time effectively, determines priorities, meet deadlines, and move work along while maintaining high quality standards.

Ability to think critically and with depth to anticipate potential outcomes and creatively solve problems.

Exceptional ability to pay close attention to detail and quality.

Ability to learn new software and interactive education technologies efficiently and effectively, including all proprietary products.

Strong PC skills, particularly Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Adobe Creative Suite and RoboHelp.

3-5 years of experience editing or producing in the technical communications field

Education:
4-year degree in Technical Communication, English, Project Management or another technical field (computer science, engineering)

PC and Apple computers and various software applications.
