The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), an internationally renowned college of art and design, business and technology of the State University of New York, invites applications for the position of Technical Director of Business Systems.
Responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and support of the components for Sungard systems including complex application configuration, system interfaces, complex custom enhancements and institutional reports. To enhance access, services and functionality while following established IT methodologies. Work in collaboration with the user community, vendors, consultants, and other areas of Information Technology.
Manage cross-functional project teams working on the implementation, maintenance, and support of large, complex software systems. Prepare project management plans with time and budget estimates, and other documentation. Work collaboratively with members of the FIT community, vendors, consultants, and other areas of IT.
The individual solves business and technical problems through expert level comprehension of institutional direction and systems.
Primary duties include requirements gathering, advanced level research, complex problem solving, analysis, planning, coordination, communication, configuration, programming, testing, debugging, documentation and support of systems. Create forms and templates, develop institutional reports, develop complex system interfaces, set up printing services, etc. Extend the functionality of the application by combining system configuration and custom program development. Lead or assist with complex application implementation activities.
Keeps current with new technologies as they pertain to the applications and systems that FIT supports
Works with functional users on application enhancements to SunGard Banner ERP/Workflow/ BDMS.
Maintains a working knowledge of operating systems and hardware as it relates to development work, currently Sun Solaris with a desire to transition to Linux operating environments.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related area preferred.
Experience Requirements: 5- 10 years of experience in application development and support of SunGard Banner products. Experience with SunGard Banner student system is desired. Strong working knowledge of Oracle Application Framework.. Advanced working knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL and XML. A background in the use of development methodologies, source code management, and change management. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work with end users to meet deadlines.
Salary is commensurate with experience (non-bargaining position)
