Technical Document Quality Control Specialist

The Shaw Group provides premier engineering, design, construction, and maintenance services to government and private-sector clients in a wide array of industries, including the energy, environmental, infrastructure, and emergency response markets.
Performs work primarily relating to quality control administration and the proofing of technical documents in preparation for client delivery. The document types include but are not limited to work plans, reports, transmittal letters, document review comment records and construction submittal packages for all phases of work on Shaw's St. Louis formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) Projects.
Work activities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Works closely with Engineering and Operations personnel to oversee document production processes and review all documents, transmittal letters, and submittal packages relative to quality to ensure that the Shaw and project site standards are observed and client requirements and expectations are met.
Works closely with Quality Control Systems Manager to ensure compliance with the Contractor Quality Control Plan and to design, publish, and implement Quality Control documents for use across the project site, including Standard Operating Procedures, Accident Prevention Plans, and project site standards and plans. Periodically and as opportunities for improvement arise, initiate and coordinate the review and/or update of Project Quality Control procedures and standards relating to documents and document production.
Manage quality administration relating to controlled and reference documents in project files and project web portals to ensure availability to project participants with prescribed controls.
Demonstrate depth of experience, knowledge and skills in the technical document field, publishing processes in paper and electronic formats, quality processes, proofing and editing skills.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Works independently with minimal guidance; usually determines own work priorities.
Interprets customer (client and internal Shaw) needs, assesses requirements and identifies solutions to non-standard requests.
Uses best practices and knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve products or services in own discipline.
Monitors and controls costs within own work. Solves moderately complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions.
Manages own time to meet agreed targets; develops plans for short-term work activities in own area. Works well under pressure and tight delivery schedules. Explains difficult issues and works to establish consensus for adaptation.
Promotes teamwork; coaches and guides others. 5-20 years relevant document quality experience and a college degree are required; science-related degree is preferred.
