Description :
Provide comprehensive editorial assistance to a team of curriculum developers/trainers, curriculum designers, and subject matter experts during the development of instructor led training (ILT), web-delivered courseware, and other human performance support solutions, as well as other projects and reports as necessary.

Candidate will write, rewrite and/or edit technical documents such as course training materials, including course slide decks, exercises, and lesson plans. Candidate must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, and must be capable of handling different tasks/projects from different requestors at one time.

Duties :
  • Write, edit, and work with a team to produce material in accordance with standardized format and style guidelines.
  • Recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, and content as needed.
  • Demonstrate superior attention to detail in ensuring that final documents are usable, of high quality, and in compliance with necessary requirements and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with graphic designers, and other team members to ensure the highest level of quality in final products.
  • Demonstrate individual behaviors consistent with and contributing to a positive and productive team.
  • Adhere to AFSC policies and procedures.
  • Interact with team members and clients to ensure accomplishment of projects and client satisfaction.
Requirements :
  • This is a short term temporary position. Qualified candidates must be available to work on a short term consulting project through September 28, 2012.
  • Ability to work off site in the Northern Virginia area, with flexibility to attend meetings locally as needed.
  • Bachelors Degree, preferably Journalism, English, or related
  • Knowledge of principles, mechanics, techniques and usage of proper English grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing
  • Ability to utilize online research tools as well as reference guides to verify information and apply proper editorial practices
  • Ability to quickly adapt editing style to ever changing rules and guidelines based on client need and preference.
  • Familiarity with Associated Press style, American Psychological Association style, Chicago Manual of Style, general government writing and business/military correspondence protocols
  • Experience testing online learning products and tracking changes in a spreadsheet
  • Experience using basic office graphic design tools (esp. Microsoft Office products)
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Must be able to edit and/or produce accurate, clear, and concise prose on tight deadlines, and should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, disciplined, occasionally stressful environment
  • Possess strong organizational skills
  • Has ability to plan ahead and follow through
  • Has ability to work independently
  • Must be able to excel in a team environment and effectively support multiple, concurrent priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills to assess needs and recommend solutions
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Publisher)
