Independent Video Game Company in the Greater San Francisco area that creates AAA titles is seeking an experienced and talented Technical Artist to continue to develop the company's proprietary engine and tools on our announced first person shooter title exclusively on Sonys next generation portable platform.
Applicants must have a strong understanding of Maya, experience working in a production environment and enjoy helping content creators get the most out of our technology.
The Technical Artist collaborates with the art, engine and tool teams to design, develop, and improve artist tools and workflows throughout the project cycle.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain various parts of our Maya tools & pipeline
Help improve artist workflows by developing tools and scripts
Track down and diagnose problems impeding artists
Qualifications:
A degree in Computer Science, B.A. degree in Computer Graphics or equivalent experience.
2+ years of experience using Maya in a production environment, ideally in game development
Strong technical skills:
o Maya scripting in MEL or Python
o Solid understanding of Maya features and organization
o Ability and strong desire to actively contribute to a highly creative and collaborative team environment
o Positive, professional attitude and interpersonal skills; effectively and productively communicate with leads, engineers, artists, designers and managers.
o Excellent writing skills; ability to clearly and concisely communicate through technical documents
o Disciplined and self-motivated with a strong work ethic; able to work well autonomously, meet deadlines, prioritize and tackle multiple tasks and complete deliverables with a high quality standard
Preferred Qualifications:
Maya API and C++ experience
Understanding of character rigger
Has a passion for playing and creating games and can articulate that passion clearly and analytically.
