he Technical (IT) Instructor is a member of the Per Scholas Education and Training Team The Per Scholas Training Team is committed to delivering highend computer repair technician training to underemployed and unemployed community residents for purposes of higher economic development and improvement of quality of life Primary responsibilities of this high response peoplecentered position include working with students to prepare them for employment in the IT field as computer repair technicians and preparing students to pass the CompTIA A+ Certification examination IT INSTRUCTION AND TEST PREPARATION Student IT Instruction and outcomes Provide students with training in computer hardware operating systems and application software to include general troubleshooting and networking Work closely with other members of the team to attempt to ensure 85 student graduation rate Achieve 75 A+ certification rates for all graduating students As needed facilitate remediation workshops and individual coaching session with graduates STUDENT PERFORMANCE COORDINATION Student Performance Tracking and Coordination 61607 Monitor and record student grades and work closely with Career Developer and Director of Training address student performance issues 61607 Monitor and record student attendance and work closely with Career Developer to address student attendance concerns 61607 Meet regularly with the student Career Counseling team members to review student progress 61607 As needed meet with the Job Developers team to review student progress and make employment goals recommendations 61607 Work with the assigned team member to inform the team member about students readiness to be scheduled for the A+ Certification Exam(s) 61607 Work closely with Career Counseling team to ensure students are adhering to Per Scholas dress code and other administrative policies ADMINISTRATIVE Administrative duties 61607 While classes are in session unless having received prior approval from Director of Training (or VP of Training and Education) maintain 100 attendance and availability to teach the class from 9AM to 4PM or other designated timeframe 61607 Ensure the classroom is maintained in an organized and appropriate manner and that is conducive for learning 61607 Prepare the classroom for the start of the new class 61607 Ensure that all equipment and software is secured and accounted for on a daily basis 61607 Participate in all required student progress meetings with other members of the team 61607 Participate in all required staff meetings 61607 Contribute to contents and updates to the Per Scholas Computer Technician Training Curriculum and consistency and validity of Per Scholas testing materials 61607 Assist in distribution of student ACCESS computers where applicable 61607 As needed comply with ISO 14001 regulations and ensure student compliance with the same 61607 As needed assist with program recruitment including interviewing prospective program candidates as needed 61607 As needed supervise students during community service projects REPORTING Reporting 61607 Complete and submit student Computer Technician Training Midterm Final Progress reports 61607 Complete and submit Final Cycle reports 61607 Complete and submit documentation and reports required by the State of New York Education Department and National Program on Noncollegiate Sponsored Instruction 61607 As needed enter student data into database as instructed Perform other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor 61607 Associates Degree and 3 years of teaching adults experience or Bachelors Degree and 1 year of teaching adults experience (Education Communications or Computer Science degree preferred but not required) 61607 Must be A+ certified A+ Certification Network+ and MCSE preferred 61607 Must be licensed or be eligible to become licensed under NYS Education DepartmentBureau of Proprietary School Supervision 61607 Expert level knowledge of computer hardware Windows XP 2000 98 DOS Vista 7 and Microsoft Office Suite 200320072010 61607 Must have excellent written presentation and public speaking skills 61607 Must be a goal oriented solutions driven problem solver who is people and service oriented 61607 Must have strong time management skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks with ability to meet deadlines and follow through on projects to ensure completion 61607 Must be punctual and maintain 100 attendance while classes are in session unless previous arrangements have been made 61607 Must have proven ability in working both independently and as part of a team 61607 Must be flexible and able to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends 61607 Must be comfortable with and adopt quickly
