Detica NetReveal is a product division within BAE Systems Detica which provides Risk, Compliance and Fraud solutions to financial services and government organisations around the world. Detica NetReveal merged with Norkom Technologies in 2011 and is now a 650+ person business unit with offices in UK, Dublin, Paris, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Dubai, Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, US, Canada.
Role Profile
The role of the Technical Lead is a lead developer and team lead across pre sales proof of concepts and implementations. Has good technical skills and experience, the ability to manage work and people, effectively delegate, interact with the client and knowledge of fraud identification. The Technical Lead is responsible for the technical delivery of all or part of a client solution and typically work under a Project Manager and Solution Architect.
Role Responsibilities
Pre Sales phase:
Prepares for and carries out a variety of workshops with client fraud team, investigators and data team
Act as a lead developer, leading by example and mentoring team members in best practices
Can apply skills in one and preferably more areas of DataServer, Java, Oracle SQL, R
Has an understanding of Analytics if not the ability to independently build/validate a scoring model
Has a good understanding of data and fraud detection
Specific domain knowledge of the relevant area of fraud is preferred although not always required if supported by strong analytics team member(s)
Analysis and Design phase:
Provide experience of NetReveal and industry experience to the analysis and design phase
Take responsibility for preparation of material for client workshops
Lead client workshops and represent Detica with both client business representatives and technical team
Take responsibility for quality and timeliness of client deliverables
Work with the Solutions Architect in defining the solution against requirements
Has an understanding of technical architecture and works with the Technical Architect to define and communicate the necessary hardware for the solution
Implementation Delivery phase:
Has overall responsibility for the technical delivery of a client solution
Communicate with the Project Manager in an effective manner
Reports progress and updates on estimates
Identifies skills gaps and capacity in the resource profile
In conjunction with the Project Manager and Solution Architect responsible for the delivery of the client solution
Leads by example and mentors team members in best practices
Identifies training and provides continuous feedback
Awareness of the core technologies and preferably skills in DataServer, Java, Oracle SQL
Expert skills in the technologies is of benefit but not required
Has a good understanding of data architecture
Has a level of knowledge of the NetReveal product components
Good Understanding of functionality and interfaces
Manage the development team and delegate tasks and responsibility
Act as a role model for team members coaching and passing on skills
Provide day to day quality assurance on junior team members output
Put in place appropriate levels of testing and task/defect tracking
In conjunction with the Project Manager take overall responsibility for the day to day output of the team
Maintains team morale
Ensures that resources have tasks which appropriately use their skills and meet their aspirations and career development pathway
Responsible for carrying out performance reviews of team members
Rewards success and ensures motivation of team, reporting any problems to the Project Manager
Identifies areas of growth within team members and provides feedback
Ensures that the solution and technical details are documented to an appropriate level for the work required
Understands the solution and has the ability to adapt this when necessary in conjunction with the Solution Architect if required:
Work with the analytics teams to ensure that the integrity of the fraud solution is maintained
Act as a role model for team members coaching and passing on skills
Ensures that any new developments that could be of use to the wider business and shared in appropriate manner
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or similar
2 - 5 years of professional experience preferrably as a computer engineer at a consulting firm
Experience with SAS or DataServer, Java, Oracle SQL, R
