Essential Responsibilities:
The Requirements Engineering position is the key technical focal point for audio programs both internal to Harman and external to suppliers and the OEM customer. This position requires a broad background in mechanical, electrical software and systems engineering. The goal of this engineering position is to enable the design team to deliver the product the customer wanted by having clear, complete, maintained requirements for the project.
During the business development phase the requirements engineer will be responsible for receiving requirements, archiving and sorting into key discipline areas for technical review. The requirements engineer will also be responsible for reviewing with each key discipline area their requirements, tracking items reviewed for completeness, conflict and technical assessment for implementation. Open issues including questions, undefined and under defined specifications are tracked and resolved with the customer prior to RFQ response. Exceptions to the requirements are also presented.
For software requirements they will be broken into individual software features which will become the basis for the software development plan.
Post program award the requirements engineer will receive all customer change requests. Feature changes will be reviewed with all involved technical disciplines. The design, timing and cost impacts will be consolidated for review with product and program management and tracked. Accepted changes will be updated in the working requirements and all involved disciplines will be notified of the change. All requirements will be tracked under revision control.
Participate in internal and customer driven design reviews throughout program. Aware of all Federal Standards, industry standards and internal standards and assure that the resulting design will satisfy these requirements. Understands the software architecture and able to explain this to customers. Assist the development teams in finding root cause of failures and may generate a 7D or A3 failure analysis.
Support Harman internal organizations on product DFMEA, DRBFM, Schematic Reviews, Warranty, Diagnostics, DVP&R, User's Manual, Technical Service Bulletins, Appearance Approvals and PSO follow up.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Basic Qualifications:
The requirements engineer must be capable of implementing a common technical requirements management process across multiple audio projects. The engineer must be able to manage requirements for multiple development projects.
REQUIRED Specific Knowledge, Expertise, Coursework
Able to provide detailed reviews on complex/technical specifications.
Broad Technical Background with general knowledge of DSP technology, audio processing and automotive environmental requirements.
Strong automotive background with working knowledge of vehicle networking protocols.
Practical experience in related areas such as system design, hardware/software design and real time embedded applications.

REQUIRED Degree and/or Training, including specifically defined educational equivalent
REQUIRED Certifications/Licenses
BSEE / BSCS / (or equivalent)
MSEE / MSCS preferred.

REQUIRED Specific Prior Experiences
5-10 years Systems Engineering background or Equivalent
Automotive or audio industry experience preferred

Eligibility Requirements:
Willingness to travel less than 10% of the time.
Willingness to work in an office in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
Willingness to submit to a background screen and a drug test.
