The American Red Cross is providing recovery services for survivors of Hurricane Sandy in affected states, primarily in New York and New Jersey. Period of performance is for one year, with a possible six month extension, based on service need.

The Long Term Recovery (LTR) Technical Support Specialist will serve as primary technical support and point of contact for Hurricane Sandy long term recovery staff in New York and New Jersey. The position duties include but are not limited to configuring, installing, monitoring, and maintaining users' desktop software, hardware, and telecom needs. Working independently as well as within the IT COE network, the Long Term Recovery Technical Support Specialist may provide consultation to users for all aspects of end-user computing and desktop-based LAN systems software.

Duties: The LTR Technical Support Specialist

§ Investigates operations-related problems/inquiries and recommends, facilitates and coordinates solutions.

§ Informs team members about ongoing discussions with business and on any new

findings including best practices.

§ Represents and champions American Red Cross initiatives as it impacts IT.

§ Works with other IT groups within the American Red Cross organization.

§ Responds to user and/or technical problems providing support as needed.

§ Troubleshoots and performs minor repairs on desktop computing equipment.

§ Reviews records and document reports of production, machine malfunctions, and

maintenance as well as organizational, procedural, and workflow plans and methods.

§ Adheres to standard operations, policies and service level standards, ensuring compliance.

§ Installs, configures, and maintains end user hardware, software, and peripherals.

§ Prepares metrics, activity and progress reports regarding projects, tasks, and

§ Performs other duties as assigned.


A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required. The successful candidate will have and a minimum of three years experience in the support of a desktop computing environment.
