Responsible for "start to finish" creation and production of technical manuals/documentation to support the maintenance of our equipment. Responsible for maintenance of manuals and issuance of service bulletins and updates. Develops, writes, and edits material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications in print or electronic media. Observes production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedure and detail.
Interviews production and engineering personnel and reads journals, reports, and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods. Reviews manufacturer's and trade catalogs, drawings, and other data relative to operation, maintenance, and service of equipment. Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mock-ups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail. Organizes material and completes writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
Maintains records and files of work and revisions. Selects photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material. Prepares or arranges for preparation of index. Reviews bills of material for accurate parts lists.
Assists in laying out material for publication. Arranges for formatting, reproduction, and distribution of material. Experience in Military contract review and documentation of logistical data requirements. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE Four-year degree preferred, but will consider relevant experience in lieu of education.
Must have technical writing experience, preferably in manufacturing of complicated equipment. Must have experience using Adobe FrameMaker 7.0, AutoCad, and Microsoft Office suite. Prefer experience with BOM review and MACOLA. Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel.
