WebAssign—the leading service provider for online homework in higher education—is seeking a Technical Writer II to join our team.
Core Responsibilities
Research and write web-application software documentation, to include online help and user manuals
Work with subject matter experts to resolve documentation issues
Publish help and PDF output
Contribute to user interface (UI) wording and feature-name branding
Train the customer service team on new features
Actively seek ways to improve the quality, usefulness, and availability of help content to users
Actively seek process improvements that support the Communications team
Collaborate with other writers on the Communications team
Support the Communications Manager to ensure that all writers follow established style guidelines and documentation best practices
Write release notes
Write API documentation
Contribute to and help to maintain style guide
Stay abreast of industry developments and conventions
Requirements
Demonstrated knowledge of technical writing principles, conventions, and documentation processes (writing samples required)
Advanced knowledge of technical communication practices to ensure that documentation is clear, accurate, concise, and usable
Detail-oriented with superb written and verbal communication skills
Flexibility to respond to changing priorities
Ability to work well independently and as a team member
Ability to follow group processes and procedures
Ability to work effectively under the pressure of deadlines
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, research, and time-management skills
Minimum of 5 years of technical writing experience in a professional setting
Preferred
Familiarity with DITA and XML conventions
Familiar with user-interface wording conventions
Software experience
Google Search knowledge
Education
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or Technical Writing or equivalent experience
