This is a technical/skilled position responsible to perform advanced research and compile information for engineering studies. Position exercises considerable independent judgment and initiative in making technical decisions, summarization, and analysis of collected data leading to preliminary findings and recommendations for improvements.
Examples Of Essential Duties:
Incumbent establishes elevations for culverts, designs, planning, specifications, and cost estimates on projects of moderate scope under the review of an engineer. Liaison with field crews engaged in various types of road, canal, landscape and bridge inventory data. Assists in office work involving data analysis of right-of-way, highway, and road systems data. Recommends solutions to identified problems relating to transportation facilities. Investigates complaints from the general public. Composes e-mail, letters or memos in response to a variety of public and/or governmental inquiries.
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from High School and five years of experience in related field. Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required. Must be able to lift and carry 25lbs. Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
Skilled with engineering and office related software such as Arc View, AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. Prefer advanced level of certification or college courses in mathematics, science, and mechanical drawing.
Work hours are 7:00 am to 5:30 pm Workdays are Monday thru Thursday.
