Learn and apply proper troubleshooting, diagnostic and corrective steps in the repair of parts,

components and systems within Caterpillar and allied products. Diagnose, troubleshoot, perform maintenance & repair of truck engines & chassis.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

All essential functions, duties, and other responsibilities will be performed in support of the Company’s Mission, Vision, and Principles Statements and will include the following:

Perform parts, components, systems and machine inspections to determine operational discrepancies.

Identify the problem and cause of failure through logical troubleshooting steps.

Determine corrective action through the inspection of failed parts.

Order replacement parts and services in a manner that promotes efficiency and effectiveness.

Repair or replace parts as required within the defined expectations of the task.

Make critical adjustments as required to various parts, components and systems.

Use all tooling in a manner that is not destructive to the tooling or the item being serviced.

Operate product to verify proper operation.

Ensure that the repair has not adversely altered the machine appearance.

Dispose of failed parts, fluids and other waste in a manner that is considerate of the environment.

Complete all necessary documentation and follow up as required in a timely, orderly manner.

Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations. Must use all safety equipment necessary for the job.

Demonstrate the ability to learn and apply new knowledge.

Work varying shifts and overtime as business needs arise.

Maintain work area, tools, and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment.

Create a work environment that is considerate of the customer’s needs.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

All employees are required to be productive during working time, and to support the overall operation of the

business. Any employee may be assigned to any work outside his or her job classification on an as-needed basis, so long as the employee is qualified to perform the work. Upon request, employees will participate in

cross-training to enable them to support other segments of the business.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to perform basic and more complicated mathematic. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to read and comprehend specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins and other related publications. Must be able to communicate thoughts and ideas in both verbal and written form. Ability to use computers and have command of appropriate software. Ability to learn

to effectively operate any company software – with training. Positive customer service. Basic mechanical knowledge including electrical and hydraulics. Knowledge of use of various heavy equipment including, not limited to Caterpillar. Ability to read prints. Must meet or exceed requirements defined by classification.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred. Preferred candidates will have CDL and 3 years experience with diesel engine maintenance and repair.

move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
