Molding Process Technician

POSITION SUMMARY

Develop the most efficient and practical molding process parameters based on material characteristics, part design complexity and tool construction limitations. Perform capability studies, D.O.E.’s, 8-d problem solving and continuous improvement. Act as the technical source of molding process knowledge for other associates to be involved in VA/VE projects yielding tangible results.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform Setup and establish Ideal Process Parameters for Injection Molding Tools
  • Document Processes and Procedures according to operational standards
  • Maintain Process Records throughout the Mold Development cycle
  • Setup Auxiliary equipment, such as End Of Arm tooling for extraction of Runners and Parts
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve injection molding, auxiliary and secondary operations in order to establish the ideal processing parameters
  • Maintain and organize tools and equipment
  • Proper drying of material
  • Inspect parts for qualification based on Inspection results, and Engineering indications
  • Work with Mold Assemblers and Molding Engineering to troubleshoot product quality and mold performance issues
  • Prepare Molding Conditions for Mold Transfer Package
  • General knowledge and ability to perform basic Mold Maintenance (Fitting of cores, proper alignment of molds, etc.)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Ideal candidate will have working knowledge and experience in the following areas:

  • Successful completion of Mold Apprenticeship program preferred but not required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Injection Molding Processing
  • Knowledge of processing characteristics of different types of materials
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Continuous Improvement
  • Ability to Train Operators to run Molds
