POSITION SUMMARY:
The Regional Marketing position resides in the marketing organization and is the primary liaison between product marketing teams and the sales organization. The role requires collaborative development of product launch or application based marketing and sales strategies, along with the execution of tactical activities. Helps drive sales in North America through the development and management of field-based sales support activities. As part of the role of Regional Marketing, this individual will develop and cultivate relationships with relevant scientific thought-leaders and communicate routinely on trends, competitive strategies and new product opportunities to marketing. In addition, utilize these contacts to help the gain credibility around key products with our customer base. Also helps to create sales tools, as well as coach sales on how to optimize selling from those tools.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act as primary point of contact for Sales related product and portfolio questions and feedback
Develop and maintain on-going technical and market knowledge of assigned and adjacent product portfolios, technologies and market segments in order to be "go-to" knowledge for sales personnel
Support sales personnel in both "simple" and "complex" technical and product questions
Facilitate and serve as a liaison between Product Management, Sales and in-field marketing initiatives
Coordinate execution of major sales pushes for marketing, including product launches, major product conversions, corrective actions, and sales focus months Implement other major marketing initiatives in the field such as key sales plans of action (POA).
Work with Sales leadership and Field Application Specialists (FAS) at the geographic and local level to support or facilitate execution of sales POAs as needed.
Actively represent Millipore's products / portfolios at appropriate customer-facing events, including tradeshows, major 'tent shows' or equivalent, and other key events identified in collaboration with sales leadership and product management
Enhance information available to Product Management related to customer feedback, competitive intelligence, market trends, and effectiveness of marketing positioning and tactics in the field
Systematically capture and analyze and communicate information from the field in support of product management
Provide perspectives on positioning of Millipore's product portfolios relative to competitors
Facilitate communication and input from the field and from customers on what's working and what needs improvement
Provide insight into sales trends within geography based on understanding of large dollar accounts and other in-field situations
Facilitate and support in-field seminar management and new seminar development processes
Manage systematic collection of information and feedback working with the FAS with respect to existing seminars, including assessments of effectiveness, potential for improvement, etc for discussion with the broader product management and sales leadership teams
Participate in processes to identify opportunities for new seminars, to develop and/or critique content for selected new seminars, and finalize supporting materials for seminars, in collaboration with FAS, product management Technical Information Marketing and R&D as appropriate
Work with FAS to ensure appropriate training and awareness across the sales organizations with respect to new seminars
Support sales training efforts, including in-field training, new hire training, new product launch training, etc.
Deliver in-field training for regional sales meetings, based on schedule and topics identified in collaboration with Sales leadership
Support and/or present as appropriate in new hire training and similar organized office-based sales training events
Develop and maintain a network of Key Opinion Leaders in the assigned business segment
EDUCATION:
Bachelor degree in Cell or Molecular Biology, or related field and 5-10 yrs exp in the Life Science or BioPharma industries or MBA and 5-10 yrs exp. in similar industries or PhD and in Cell or Molecular Biology, or related field and 4-8 yrs exp in similar industries
2-3 years of technical sales experience preferred
Lab experience with flow cytometry or Luminex ® technology is highly desired
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge of Life Science industry and related applications
Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Upbeat, positive attitude.
Strong business sense and the ability to quickly learn and analyze a new market.
Self-starter who is effective working independently and who has the ability to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work with a dispersed team across multiple functions to achieve objectives
Knowledgeable of the sales process
Excellent project leadership and facilitation skills
Excellent organization and time management skills with ability to prioritize projects/time.
Willingness to travel up to 50-70% of the time
